What is WHIC about? 

WHIC is an online membership based platform for startups, corporates, academia and investors to connect and accelerate the women’s health agenda through use of technology.  

The platform offers its members: 

• Advisory and scouting to scale up women’s health innovations and connections 

• Cross-regional partnerships to scale innovations 

• Online events with startups, corporations, and subject matter experts

Why did you set up WHIC?

 Maaike Steinebach says “ I have been on a mission to close the gender health gap for the last few years, initially as a seed investor and increasingly as an advisor and partner for femtech start ups, corporates and insurers on how they can improve integrating women's health into the workplace and product offering. I noticed that many of the women's health founders work in isolation and don't have the time and energy to create a network for support and collaboration. WHIC aims to fill that gap in the market by creating a global platform for women’s health innovation. In line with the International Women’s Day theme “Accelerate Action” we aim to create partnerships and collaboration that will accelerate the closing of the gender health gap.” 

Her co-founder Sophie van Dijk: “ Our mission at WHIC is to transform women's healthcare - a cause that affects me and 52% of the population, making it deeply personal while highlighting a vast market opportunity. From my dual perspective as both founder and corporate executive, I've seen how startups struggle with scaling while corporations face barriers to innovation. This creates the perfect synergy: startups deliver breakthrough solutions while corporations bring powerful resources and infrastructure. Through WHIC our aim is to build hese strategic partnerships to help startups scale rapidly and keep corporations at the cutting edge, ultimately closing the gender health gap.”
